GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE 90 MEETINGS
“What gets measured, gets managed.”
The 90 Meetings in 90 Days Challenge is easier for many people to maintain if they use a journal. The Bold & Brave just happens to have such a convenient, preformatted journal specifically for 90 in 90 here but you could use a notebook if you prefer.
What to Record
The content you’ll want to keep track of (and is included in our 90 in 90 journal 😊) should include a meetings tracker, key take-aways and inspirations you had during each meeting, plans for the major challenges you might face during the 90 days, goals for you to work on with your sponsor, and dedicated space for quick daily journaling of your struggles and triumphs during those 90 days.
Don't Forget the Questions
Make sure to include dedicated space at each meeting for any questions that come to you during the meetings so you can remember what you want to ask your sponsor later. It’s all too easy to forget the questions that come to mind during a meeting, especially if we stop to socialize afterward. Oh, the struggle of trying to remember what I want to ask my sponsor! I know it was important to me but I just can’t recall! Ya, those days are over as long as we jot those questions down!
Quotes and Slogans
Knowing that we will inevitably have alone time in between meetings, it’s a good idea to have something helpful planned for that time. If you jot down the quotes or slogans used in the meetings, you can ponder what they mean to you during this alone time. Maybe even journal a little about it. There is space in the 13-week planner in our 90 in 90 journal to do this. Plus, there are two AA slogans there each week if you don’t have anything else to contemplate.
Other things you might want to note at each meeting are:
• Date, Time & Location
• Topic & Speaker
• Readings including space for book title, page number, and paragraph
• Meeting announcements
• Space for other notes
Other Pages to Include
Other things you might want to include within your overall journal would be a sobriety log, space to note meeting schedules near you, and a meeting calendar with the meetings that you plan to go to over the next 90 days. Grab yourself some stickers, maybe little gold stars, and place one on your monthly meeting calendar right after you attend the meeting that day. As little and silly as this sounds, this little act can help give you a sense of accomplishment. More importantly, it can help you feel like you really are going to make it!
Powerful Table of Contents
Also, think about including a table of contents for the meetings that you attended. This can become a pretty powerful tool in your recovery journey. Including a table of contents can be quite helpful should you need to look something up or if you want to look over the notes that you took at a specific meeting. Not to mention, looking back at these down the road can help you to measure just how far you have come!
